VisionDC: Arts & Innovation Summit

CulturalDC and its partners transformed the Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater complex - one of Washington DC's most iconic sites – into a hub of cultural exchange and artistic expression to host an Arts and Urban Innovation Summit. The high profile public initiative featured conversations, workshops, speak now sessions, interactive artist experiences, and performances from multiple genres. Working in partnership with DC's planning and development leaders, an array of local and internationally acclaimed luminaries whose work shapes the arts and cultural forces that define our cities shared visionary outlooks on the future of cities and the impact creative economies and creative place-making has on communities. This collaborative civic and creative enterprise was guided by an Advisory Council and Host Committee comprised of artists and arts organizations, community, business, civic and education leaders, policy and planning experts and media icons. VISIONDC also featured the city's first "ART TANK" Artist Challenge where artists were awarded projects in real time at the summit by commercial developers and philanthropists. We also partnered with DC's Department of Small and Local Business Development's initiative "Made in DC" for a curated pop-up market.
