COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
Cultural Development Corporation (CuDC), a non-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for artists and cultural organizations that stimulate economic development and improve quality of life in the DC metropolitan area, is accepting applications for a Communications Manager. Flashpoint, our downtown arts incubator, offers affordable space for arts presentations and mentors up-and-coming artists and organizations through residency, gallery and theatre lab programs. Source, located in the 14th Street arts corridor, is a multi-user performing arts venue equipped with administrative, rehearsal and performance spaces for resident companies and other performing arts groups in the DC area.
The Communications Manager position requires experience in communications, marketing and public relations planning and implementation for the purpose of positioning the organization, creating media visibility and increasing earned revenue and audiences. This position reports to the Director of Development and, in collaboration with the CuDC staff, will develop CuDC’s marketing plan with strategies and tactics to support the organization’s development and program/services goals.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the brand master for CuDC’s organizational identity, centralizing internal and external communications and visual identity.
- Maintain and implement new / social media strategies for CuDC.
- Work with program staff to develop timelines, annual marketing and communications plan and budgets.
- Administer organization’s media list and other external listservs.
- Provide oversight of CuDC website(s).
- Manage content for blogs and social networking sites, as appropriate.
- Work with program managers on messaging for theatre, gallery, business center and housing programs.
- Monitor and archive media coverage.
- Create and/or manage all CuDC print and electronic materials including news releases, season brochures, annual reports, newsletters, and e-newsletters.
- Manage marketing and publicity for Flashpoint and Source events including exhibitions, theatre performances and special events.
- Serve as liaison to the PR and Marketing committee of the Board of Directors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration, Marketing or Communications preferred.
- Knowledge of contemporary visual and/or performing art, particularly in the DC area.
- Excellent written and verbal skills, strong design aesthetic skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office, PowerPoint, desktop and Internet publishing software, including HTML, Illustrator, Photoshop.
- Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a plus.
- Experience with marketing/public relations/communications and/or publications management.
- Attention to detail and ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks on an ongoing basis.
- Comfort working in a cooperative environment that represents a broad range of artistic, cultural and social points of view.
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
Salary
Commensurate with experience.

PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Cultural Development Corporation (CuDC), a non-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for artists and cultural organizations that stimulate economic development and improve quality of life in the DC metropolitan area, is accepting applications for the position of Program Assistant. This full-time, entry level position provides support to CuDC’s Program Managers, assisting with: the delivery of capacity building services to artists and arts organizations; the presentation of exhibitions in the Mead Theatre Lab and Gallery at Flashpoint; the production of the Source Festival; and the creation of artist housing.
Responsibilities
- Assist Program Managers with:
- Selection process for Gallery, Mead Theatre Lab & Artist Housing Programs;
- Coordinating the season calendars for the Gallery & Mead Theatre Lab Programs;
- Event logistics and coordination for opening receptions, business center activities, open house activities & other special events;
- Volunteer recruitment & coordination for special events;
- Gallery upkeep and maintenance;
- Compile and distribute weekly e-newsletters;
- Maintain membership database;
- Provide member support & customer service, including responding to venue use inquiries, as needed; and
- General administrative support, as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Knowledge and experience in arts management and/or nonprofit organizations;
- Superb writing, customer service and organizational skills, plus excellent computer skills;
- Flexible work schedule; and
- Individual must be comfortable working in a cooperative environment that supports a broad range of artistic, cultural and social points of view.
Salary

OPERATIONS ASSOCIATE
The Cultural Development Corporation (CuDC), a non-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for artists and cultural organizations that stimulate economic development and improve quality of life in the DC metropolitan area, is accepting applications for the position of Operations Associate. This entry-level position services the Flashpoint arts incubator and Source, multi-user spaces housing a gallery, rehearsal studios, performance spaces and collaborative office space serving area artists and arts organizations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day operations at the Flashpoint and Source facilities including:
- responding to general inquiries for information;
- coordinating building maintenance and managing vendor relationships
- act as liaison with building management; and
- procuring equipment, materials and office supplies;
- Assistance with execution of venue rentals, including:
- responding to inquiries and negotiating space usage;
- maintaining venue schedules;
- orientation and supervision of licensees, as necessary; and
- administrating contracts, invoices and payments;
- Assistance with CuDC programs, including technical support to productions;
- Assistance with production aspects of special events; and
- Reception and general administrative support, as needed.
Responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience;
- Professional interest in arts management;
- Comfort working in a cooperative environment with a broad range of artistic, cultural and social points of view;
- Superb customer service and organizational skills;
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as programming demands; and
- Expertise in technical aspects of theater production, a plus.
Salary
Negotiable depending on experience.
